Romantic Spots in Markham
It's Friday Night Date Night and I really like looking for new and interesting things to do. We all know that Markham is a great place to live and work but it is also a great place for love! Here are some of my favourite spots to get Cupid’s bow aiming where I want it:
Crafty Pots: Floor to ceiling naked ceramics and all the art supplies you can handle makes the ideal spot for an evening out. According to staff, Friday and Saturday nights overflow with the newly attached and seasoned couples bonding over their creations. And don’t forget pottery is a 9th anniversary must! Crafty Pots is located at 126 Main St. North in Markham.
Main Street Unionville: Whatever the season, there is magic in the air when you and your sweetheart take a stroll down this historic and charming street. You can grab a laté or linger over a bottle of wine, hold hands while you pop into the shops or listen to bands play at the bandstand on summer nights.
Want to really impress? Finish with a stroll over the bridge at TooGood Pond or an artful ending at the Varley Art Gallery.
Wine making: Romance has a long history with wine - they are like the perfect couple. After all it was Euripides that said, “Where there is no wine there is no love”. So perhaps to ensure your love continues, you can create your own private stash together. My wife, Renée, has made several delicious batches at Markham Heritage Wines (oddly enough with her girlfriends and not me...anyhow...). Wine-making brothers, Mike and John, can help you make 30 bottles of your very own elixir and even customize them with personalized labels. Great fun!
