Markham's Legacy Neighbourhood Has It All!
Here's a riddle for you...Where in Markham can you find a neighbourhood with a blend of older and newer homes, tree lined streets, a 9 hole golf course, excellent walking trails, and a short walk to Starbucks? The answer: Legacy!
Legacy is located in the historic area of Box Grove just south of Hwy 407 and north of 14th Ave. To the west lies the Markham Greens Golf Course and the 9th Line/Box Grove Bypass creates the eastern boundary.
The residents of Legacy are very active, especially the Legacy Community Rate Payers' Association (LCRA). They host a number of events throughout the year including spring clean-up, summer neighbourhood garage sales, autumn corn roasts, and a winter festival just to name a few. The LCRA is also actively involved in the creation of the recreational pathway running through Markham that will include the Legacy neighbourhood. Once completed, all of Legacy’s current walking paths will link up to this new recreational pathway. Almost the entire route will travel through parks.
Legacy Park on Rouge Bank Drive and Legacy Drive consists of a basketball court, two baseball fields, a playground structure with gazebo, and a large neighbourhood ice-skating rink in the winter (built and maintained by the residents of Legacy). Many of the community events are held here. Legacy also enjoys a vibrant Rouge River Community Centre and a gorgeous 9 hole golf course that runs along the Rouge River called Markham Green.
This is definitely a sought-after area to live in Markham. If you'd like to arrange a private tour of the area please contact me. To see which homes are currently for sale in Legacy, click here.
