Family Fun Day in Markham
Since it’s inception in 2008 it’s safe to say that Family Day (Monday, February 17) has quickly become one of our favorite statutory holidays! As a dedicated dad and super busy realtor, I am glad for any opportunity to spend quality time with my family.
Here are some great ideas around Markham for Family Day fun:
Create a fishy family masterpiece:
The family that paints together stays together…and makes a one-of-a-kind work of art. Paintlounge Markham is offering a “School of Fish” Family Workshop. Bring the brood and make collaborative art on a big canvas together. $45 +HST per family for a 24×30″ canvas or $55 + HST per family for a 24×36″ canvas. Call or reserve your space online.
Snowshoe through history:
It’s time to enjoy winter with the whole family! Winterfest 2014 is on at the historic Markham Museum and the historic site brings out the best of the season with pony rides, snowshoeing, snowmen building, activities, crafts and great food. On from 10AM to 4PM, admission is $3/person and kids under 2 are free!
Go for a family stroll:
Head to Main Street Unionville for live entertainment and some famous mascots while you browse the shops and eats. Finish off with a skate on TooGood Pond or head to the Varley Art Gallery where you can be….
Be part of the story:
Bring the whole family and participate in a community storytelling project at the Varley Art Gallery. See and add to the display, partake in family-friendly art activities, create a Family Day word cloud, enjoy refreshments and visit the current exhibition. Open from noon to 4PM, cost is $3 per family.
It’s fun to play at the YMCA:
Come and play at the Markham YMCA and get into the spirit of the Sochi games with their FUNOlympics. Doors are open to everyone from 8AM to 4PM.
Whatever you do I hope you enjoy time with your family and send me your pics on Twitter!
