Welcome to Milliken Mills, South Markham Ontario
Milliken Mills is a large community in Markham with so much to do and see! This abundant neighbourhood will keep you active and having fun regardless of the season!
Milliken is situated in south east Markham and is located just south of Hwy 407 and north of Steeles Ave. East. Its western border is Hwy. 404 and stretches east to Hwy 48 (Markham Rd.). It is further divided into Milliken Mills East and Milliken Mills West with McCowan Rd being the center dividing line.
It all began in 1824, when United Empire Loyalist, Norman Milliken received the deed to the area known then as Milliken Corners. It quickly became home to a lumber business and a post office. Through the years, Milliken – like many areas in Markham – was also known for its rich farming. Today, Milliken Mills is home to neighbourhoods and businesses. It also has many robust green spaces like Milliken Park, Goldhawk Park, Armadale Park, and Aldergrove Park. Walking trails are also plentiful, including Milliken Trail, which offers a walking tour of the neighbourhood.
The Milliken Mills Community Centre is a very popular place for local residents. Open year round, where else can you find a public library, Parks & Recreation’s front desk, an enormous indoor pool equipped with a large water slide, a high functioning ice skating arena and…a McDonalds?
One of the largest children's festivals in York Region takes place here. Every September, the Milliken Mills Children's Festival provides entertainment, crafts, activities, and yummy treats. This event has locals and visitors coming back year after year.
Milliken Mills High School (MMHS) continues to be a sought after secondary school in Markham and a leader in technology. Starting in 1993, MMHS became the first high school in Canada to register its own domain name. And today, MMSS continues to strive in academics, sports, technology and social clubs.
Throughout the year, Milliken Mills is a fun place to raise a family and the perfect place to make a home. For a private tour of the area and a list of comparable home sales, please contact me. To see what homes are currently available for sale in Milliken, click here.
